On the remote planet End of Nothing, a society of humans and robots spent a thousand years trying to create a new religion. Among the many faiths in the galaxy, this one was no different—until a secret project began. A group of human sensitives used their minds to gather all knowledge from time and space, feeding it into a computer designed to become the ultimate Pope, an all-knowing and infallible leader. Three outsiders lived on the planet: Decker, a lone survivor who was unaware of a constant voice in his mind; Dr. Jason Tennyson, a physician who had fled his homeworld and was needed by Vatican-17; and Jill Roberts, a journalist determined to uncover the truth. Vatican-17 feared Jill would expose the secret project, known as Project Pope. When one of the sensitives disrupted the plan, it triggered a power struggle between humans and robots, drawing the three outsiders into the conflict. Meanwhile, Jill discovered something she was not meant to find.
