About “Roadwork”

Roadwork is a thriller novel written by Stephen King, published in 1981 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. It was later included in the 1985 hardcover collection The Bachman Books. The story is set in an unnamed Midwestern city during the years 1972 to 1974. The protagonist is a man struggling with the loss of his son and the breakdown of his marriage. His mental state deteriorates after he learns that both his home and workplace will be destroyed to build an interstate highway extension.
