About “Stephen Hero”
Stephen Hero is a posthumously published autobiographical novel by Irish author James Joyce. It serves as an early version of his later work, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. The novel was never completed in its original form, as part of the manuscript is missing. Only 383 pages of the original text have survived, while the first 518 pages have disappeared.
