Ulysses is a modernist novel by the Irish writer James Joyce. It was partially serialised in the American journal The Little Review from March 1918 to December 1920. The full book was published in Paris by Sylvia Beach on 2 February 1922, on Joyce's fortieth birthday. The novel is regarded as one of the most significant works of modernist literature and a classic of the genre. It has been described as "a demonstration and summation of the entire movement."
