About “The Forest”
The Forest is a play written by Alexander Ostrovsky in 1870. It was first published in the January 1871 issue of Otechestvennye Zapiski, a Russian literary magazine. The play premiered at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg on 1 November 1871. The performance was staged as a benefit for the actor Fyodor Burdin.
