A flying saucer was reported to have landed in Iowa, but it was later revealed to be a hoax. However, two agents from a secret U.S. intelligence agency went missing after investigating the site. More agents also disappeared, leading the agency's head and two top agents to go in and discover that an invasion by slug-like aliens was underway. These aliens can take over a human's mind, making the person do whatever the alien wants. Most of Iowa was already under their control. One of the agents, Sam Cavanaugh, discovered the truth but was taken over by an alien. He now works for the invaders. He has also learned that a high official in the Treasury Department is under alien control, putting the entire nation at risk.
