About “The Stand”

A 1978 novel by Stephen King follows a man who escapes from a biological weapon facility after an accident, carrying the deadly virus known as Captain Tripps. This rapidly mutating flu wipes out most of the world's population in the weeks that follow. In the aftermath, survivors must choose between following an elderly black woman to Boulder or joining Randall Flagg, a dark figure who establishes a command post in Las Vegas. The story centers on the growing tension between the two groups as they prepare for a confrontation between good and evil.
