The Venging is a collection of short stories by Greg Bear that includes narratives exploring themes such as technologically advanced cities expelling sinners, human communication with aliens, a woman controlling a giant asteroid, inhabitants of multiple universes meeting in a limbo space, and a world governed by chaos where stone moves and the mind shapes reality. The stories feature characters and concepts that later developed into Bear's longer works, such as the premise of "Mandala" which influenced the novel Strength of Stones.
