As the daughter of Briar's head hockey coach, the narrator would be vilified for hooking up with a player from a rival team, namely Jake Connelly, Harvard's arrogant star forward. She needs his help to secure a coveted internship, and to get it she proposes he be her fake boyfriend, though he wants every fake date to become a real one.
