About “Intervention”

A NATO-led coalition initiated a military intervention in the Libyan Civil War on 19 March 2011 to enforce United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973. The resolution, adopted with ten votes in favor and five abstentions, called for an immediate ceasefire, the cessation of attacks against civilians, the establishment of a no-fly zone over Libya, and enhanced sanctions against Muammar Gaddafi's government and its supporters.
