A Is for Alibi (1982) is a novel by Sue Grafton, the first in the Kinsey Millhone series. Kinsey Millhone, a tough-talking former cop and twice-divorced loner, runs a modest detective agency in Santa Teresa, California. Client Nikki Fife, convicted eight years earlier of killing her philandering husband, is now out on parole and needs Kinsey's help to find the real killer; the investigation turns up a second corpse and more suspects.
