Beverly Danziger approached Kinsey Millhone with a problem that seemed simple, but her nervous energy suggested otherwise. Millhone took the case, thinking it would be routine. Elaine Boldt, Beverly's sister, was a wealthy widow who disappeared after being seen in a $12,000 lynx coat. The building managers in California and Florida gave conflicting accounts of her last known location.
