About “Sharpe's battle”

Sharpe's Battle is a 1995 novel by Bernard Cornwell set during the Peninsular War. Lt. Col. Richard Sharpe is tasked with leading an untrained Irish battalion of the king of Spain's household guard. They are stationed at the ruined fort of San Isidro when attacked by General Guy Loup's French forces. Sharpe has a personal vendetta against Loup, who has committed brutal acts. To end Loup's reign of terror and settle a personal score, Sharpe must lead his men into a deadly battle in the streets of Fuentes de Onoro, where thousands of French troops are gathered. The battle is crucial to the British effort in Spain.
