Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala, leaders of the NUMA crew, face a high-stakes mission when the advanced aircraft X-37 disappears over the South Pacific. Russia and China seek the technology, but the U.S. fears a hidden danger—the X-37 carries a payload of exotic matter stored near absolute zero. If it thaws, it could cause a major catastrophe. The NUMA team travels from the Galapagos Islands to the jungles of South America and an icy mountain lake believed to be the birthplace of the Inca, racing against time to prevent disaster.
