Sir Michael Andrew Bridge Morpurgo is an English book author, poet, playwright, and librettist who is known best for children's novels such as War Horse. His work is noted for its "magical storytelling" and for recurring themes such as the triumph of an outsider or survival. Morpurgo was the third Children's Laureate and is President of BookTrust, a children's reading charity. He is a British children's writer.
