Asinaria is a comic play written in Latin by the Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus. The story follows an Athenian gentleman, Demaenetus, who learns that his son, Argyrippus, is having an affair with a prostitute named Philaenium. Demaenetus asks his slave, Libanus, to find money to pay for the affair. A stranger arrives with money owed for donkeys sold by Saurea, the wife's steward. Libanus and another slave, Leonida, trick the stranger into giving them the money by pretending to be Saurea. Argyrippus receives the money but must promise his father first access to Philaenium.
