About “Cligès”

Cligès is a verse romance written by the medieval French poet Chrétien de Troyes around 1176. It is the second of his five Arthurian romances, which also include Erec and Enide, Yvain, Lancelot, and Perceval. The poem follows the story of the knight Cligès and his forbidden love for his uncle's wife, Fenice.
