About “Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart”
Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart is a 12th-century Old French chivalric romance poem attributed to Chrétien de Troyes. It is believed that Chrétien received the story from Marie of France and did not complete the work himself. The poem is the earliest text to present Lancelot as a major character and introduces his love affair with Queen Guinevere, King Arthur's wife. Written in the 12th century, it is a foundational text in the Arthurian legend and marks a significant development in medieval literature. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
