About “Yvain, the Knight of the Lion”
Yvain, the Knight of the Lion is an Arthurian romance written by the French poet Chrétien de Troyes around 1180. It was composed at the same time as Lancelot, the Knight of the Cart and shares narrative elements with that work. The story follows Yvain, a knight who is rejected by his wife after breaking a significant promise. To win her back, he goes on a series of adventures and performs heroic deeds. The poem influenced other medieval works, such as the German Iwein and the Welsh Owain. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
