About “Contempt”
Il disprezzo, known in English as Contempt or A Ghost At Noon, is an Italian existential novel written by Alberto Moravia and published in 1954. The story explores themes of alienation and emotional distance through the experiences of its characters. It was later adapted into a film titled Le Mépris in 1963, directed by Jean-Luc Godard. The novel remains a significant work in Moravia’s literary career and is recognized for its psychological depth.
