About “En attendant Godot”

This play by Irish playwright and author Samuel Beckett was written between 1948 and 1949, first published in 1952, and first performed in 1953 in French as En attendant Godot. It is Beckett's own English-language adaptation of the original, subtitled 'tragicomedy in two acts,' and is regarded by critics as one of the most enigmatic plays of modern literature. In a 1998 public poll by London's Royal National Theatre, it was voted the most significant English-language play of the 20th century. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
