Samuel Beckett

12 standalone books

Samuel Barclay Beckett (1906–1989) was an Irish avant-garde writer, dramatist, and poet who wrote in English and French. His work offers a bleak outlook on human culture and became increasingly minimalist, both formally and philosophically, in his later career. As a student, assistant, and friend of James Joyce, he is considered one of the last modernists and, to later writers, one of the first postmodernists, and is regarded as a key figure in the Theatre of the Absurd.
