Mozart and Salieri is a poetic drama written by Alexander Pushkin in 1830. It is part of his four short plays known as Little Tragedies and was published in 1832. The play is based on rumors surrounding Mozart's early death and features three characters: Mozart, Antonio Salieri, and a blind fiddler who appears as a non-speaking character. Mozart finds the fiddler's playing amusing, while Salieri is disturbed by it. The play was the only one of Pushkin's works to be staged during his lifetime.
