About “Pseudolus”
Pseudolus is a play by the ancient Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus. It is part of the Fabulae Palliatae, a group of early Roman comedies set in a Classical Greek context. The play was first performed in 191 BC during the Megalesian Festival, a celebration for the Phrygian goddess Cybele. A temple dedicated to Cybele was completed in the same year, coinciding with the festival. Pseudolus is considered one of the earliest works of Roman literature.
