About “The Tyger”
The Tyger is a poem by William Blake, published in 1794 in Songs of Experience. It was written during a time when Blake was becoming well-known as a poet. The poem is widely studied and has been the focus of much literary analysis. It also inspired various musical and artistic adaptations. The poem examines Christian ideas common in late-18th- and early-19th-century England. It raises questions about the purpose and nature of God's creation, particularly in relation to contrasting figures like the "Lamb" and the "Tyger." (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
