Edgar Rice Burroughs

Edgar Rice Burroughs was an American author born in Chicago, Illinois in 1875 who began writing fiction in his mid-thirties after a string of unsuccessful ventures. He is best remembered for creating the Barsoom planetary romance series, which began with "A Princess of Mars" in 1912, as well as the iconic jungle hero Tarzan. Over a prolific career spanning nearly four decades, he produced close to seventy novels before his death in 1950.
