Howard Weinstein

2 series 6 books in order

Howard Weinstein was a science fiction writer who developed an interest in space exploration after the 1961 flight of NASA astronaut Alan Shepard on Mercury-Redstone 3. He first encountered Star Trek in middle school, where he combined elements of the show with Lost in Space. Inspired by The Making of Star Trek by Gene Roddenberry and Stephen E. Whitfield, he began writing for television. In his 11th grade year, Weinstein had a Star Trek short story published in the fanzine Probe, a yearly publication at East Meadow High School. He also wrote a script for Mission: Impossible, but it was rejected for not being submitted through an agent. The script was returned with a list of suggested agents, and his father recognized the name Bill Cooper from their time at the same school.
