About “The Giaour”

The Giaour, A Fragment of a Turkish Tale is a poem by Lord Byron, first published in 1813 by John Murray and printed by Thomas Davison. It was the first work in Byron's series of Oriental romances. The poem was a major success upon release, strengthening Byron's critical and commercial standing. By 1814, twelve editions had been published, and a thirteenth edition followed in 1815.
