Ursula Kroeber Le Guin (1929–2018) was an American author celebrated for her visionary contributions to science fiction and fantasy. She is best known for the Hainish Cycle, a sweeping interstellar universe exploring society and gender, and the Earthsea Cycle, a beloved fantasy series rooted in themes of balance and identity. Across nearly six decades she produced more than twenty novels and a hundred short stories, earning numerous Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards.
