Isaac Asimov was an American science fiction author and biochemist, born in Petrovichi, Russia in 1920 and raised in the United States, who became one of the most prolific writers in history with over 500 books to his name. He is best known for the Foundation series, which traces the fall and rise of a galactic civilization, and the Robot series, which introduced his famous Three Laws of Robotics and profoundly shaped how science fiction explores artificial intelligence. After a career teaching at Boston University School of Medicine, he devoted himself full-time to writing until his death in 1992.
